Yes it’s important to shop local and support the community you live in. But, it doesn’t hurt to support other places that you love! The important thing here is knowing who and where you’re supporting.

<p>This week we’re exploring the Midwest with 5 independent design studios that we love. Keep reading to shop local with WorkOf!</p>

<h3 style="white-space:pre-wrap;">FIELD - chicago, illinois | accessories</h3>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Field was founded with the commitment to creating objects that are well made and timeless; practical goods that will age well and remain useful and relevant in years to come. Their products are designed in collaboration with an international group of designers, and manufactured in the USA by a network of independent craftsmen. What results is a balanced collection of thoughtful objects, made with honest materials.</p>

<h3 style="white-space:pre-wrap;">2. greta de parry - chicago, illinois | furniture</h3>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Greta de Parry is a classically trained woodworker and sculptor who began her career making custom-commissioned furniture from high-quality materials and skilled construction methods. With a desire to bring to a wider audience, Greta de Parry Design was formed in 2012. Every Greta de Parry design is made to be honest, simple, beautiful, lasting, and beneficial to its users.</p>

<h3 style="white-space:pre-wrap;">3. studio variously - Bloomfield Hills, MIchigan | textiles</h3>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Studio Variously was founded with a commitment to putting hand workers economy first, utilizing handcrafted techniques and incorporating cultural connections. With a focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness, Studio Variously exclusively partners with artisan clusters in Nepal + India to develop a capsule collection of textile-based goods. Studio Variously continuously seeks beauty in slow made textiles that bring people & their roots together.</p>

<h3 style="white-space:pre-wrap;">4. ALEX DREW & NO ONE - detroit, michigan | furniture + accessories</h3>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Alex Drew & No One is a Brooklyn-born/Detroit-based design studio that develops modern furniture and objects. Through careful consideration, their work focuses on unique materials, function, along with a combined knowledge of traditional woodworking and technology. In addition to their current product line, AD&NO also offers design services and custom furniture projects based upon their design aesthetics.</p>

<h3 style="white-space:pre-wrap;">5. tronk - cincinnati, ohio | furniture + accessories</h3>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Tronk is a Cincinnati based furniture company that prides itself on their unique, timeless American designs, the quality of the materials used, as well as the craftsmanship. Each item is handmade by the best craftspeople in the US, from Amish woodworkers to expert metalworkers, and inspected to ensure that customers receive only the finest products. Tronk style features clean lines, sleek styling and strong features create pieces of furniture that will last years, without ever going out of style. </p>
