Patina Study 6
Wallpaper Projects and Kin and Company have joined forces to create a special collection of wallpaper, Patina Studies, based on the rich, textural qualities of patinated metal.
Using bronze and steel as their canvas and chemicals as their catalyst, they compose original artworks that capture the fluid, ephemeral movement of molecules to create a distinct pattern. The surfaces are then expanded to large-scale murals, printed on mylar, that mimic patterns at the geological scale, revealing textures that resemble landscape photography.
In their previous work, both companies have explored the effects of chemicals on different material, harnessing their unpredictable nature to create dynamic surfaces, with their latest collection, Silver Studies, Wallpaper Projects produces experimental chemical paintings on photographic paper, which are enlarged into environmental murals that are custom-scaled for individual projects.
