Misterioso Dining Table

by West of Noble

The Misterioso dining table is inspired by the energy and excitement of the Bop Jazz era. The Abstract Expressionist art movement was in full swing, and studio designers such as George Nakashima and Paul Mccobb were making their mark. This piece is an homage to the aesthetic of that time; its namesake is our favorite Thelonious Monk album.

Each table begins with carefully selected walnut; every board is closely inspected for any defect that may weaken the base or compromise the top. We mill the clear, straight grained lumber by machine, then take to the bench and hand tools to cut the joinery and shape the base. The top is then given a polish with well tuned hand planes leaving a sheen unattainable with sandpaper. No two pieces are exactly alike; each lot of walnut has its own quirks and demands and guides us in its own direction. The result is a truly unique dining table that has been crafted with care and attention. Finished with a natural oil and wax blend.

Shown in walnut, also available in white oak and cherry. Custom sizing options also available.
